 WHAT IS PROCEDURE TEXT?

Procedure Text is a text that is designed to describe how something is achieved through a sequence of actions or steps. This text uses simple present tense, often imperative sentences


WHAT IS PURPOSE OF PROCEDURE TEXT? 

The social purpose of procedure text is to show how something is done through sequence of steps which enable the reader to achieve the goal.


INTRODUCTION
Good morning all, i want to tell you about "how to make burger"
let's check it out!


How to Make Burger

Materials:

  • Two breads
  • Chili sauce
  • Ketchup
  • Mayonnaise
  • Butter
  • Onion
  • Lettuce
  • Cheese
  • Beef burger or meat

Tools:

  • Frying pan
  • Stove
  • Spatula
  • Plate

Steps:

  1. Put butter on bread, and bake bread in the frying pan.
  2. Put the ketchup, chili sauce, and mayonnaise on bread.
  3. Put cheese, sliced onions, lettuce, cucumber slices on bread.
  4. Put the meat that have been fried over the bread.
  5. Put the bread again.
  6. Finally, place the burger in the plate and it is ready to be served.

    Purpose
The purpose of procedure text is to tell the reader how to do or make something. The information is presented in a logical sequence of events which is broken up into small sequenced steps. These texts are usually written in the present tense. The most common example of a procedural text is a recipe.  
    
    Characteristics Procedure Text
ü  Using imperative sentence patters (Command), for example, Cut, Do not mix, and so on.
ü  Using active verbs, such as turn, put, do, mix, etc.
ü  Using connectives (Conjunction) to sort of activities, such as then, while, etc.
ü  Using adverbials (Adverbs) to express detail the time, place, manner accurate, for example, for five minutes, 2 hours, etc.
ü  Using the simple present tense.

What is Explanation Text? Explanatory text is more or less like the one you have read above, containing text to explain how and why something happened. Rarely do anyone realize that explanatory texts are actually in school knowledge books. For example, in a biology textbook there is a text that explains how butterfly metamorphosis is. There are two types in explanatory text. The first type, text that explains why something happened, such as why the glass is dewy when we shower.
